How will I know what hammock size to get? It depends on a few things! Check out some topics/questions below to help you make your decision:
How much space do you have available to hang your hammock? Are you hanging your hammock between two close trees, in a living room, or using a hammock stand? You can always use a hammock in a larger space by adding more rope, but it is important to focus on the minimum space requirements. For smaller spaces the Double size is recommended, which requires a minimum length of just over 10 feet (10’2”) and a minimum height of just over five feet (5’1”). For larger spaces a Kingsize hammock will need almost 12 feet (11’10”) in length and almost six feet (5’11”) in height. If you are using a hammock stand, the stand dimensions will let you know how much room is needed but be sure to keep in mind how much room you have for swinging side to side.
How many people will be using your hammock at a time? A Double size hammock is a great choice for solo use or with another person, while a Kingsize hammock is best for extra room for a couple of people or for the whole family to snuggle in. For taller hammockers, a larger hammock size like Kingsize might be the best option to really spread or stretch out. Larger hammocks also tend to have a higher weight capacity, for example, our Double hammocks have a recommended capacity of 355 lbs while Kingsize goes up to 440 lbs.
What about hammock comfort? Like sheets with a higher thread count, hammock comfort is related to how many suspension chords a hammock has. Every suspension chord on a hammock helps to disperse weight and tension across the hammock bed, so the more suspension chords a hammock has, the more comfortable it is likely to be and the more weightless you will feel! Larger hammocks tend to have more suspension chords, like our Double Brisa hammocks have 84 suspension chords while our Kingize Brisa hammocks have 92. Each of our hammock lines has their own suspension chord count, so keep an eye out for that number.
